Baby Aaron

Hey we go again! I had a slight hiateus from my blog but I am back and posting a FULL POST.  This time I want to post a full newborn session.  This little guy was oh sooo sleepy and didn’t pee on my blankets once and that is a first!   Mom and Dad were about to cancel on my because he was being fussy in the morning but I am SO happy they didn’t.  Let’s just get to the pictures!

Pitty Pup

-Note: I am redo-ing my blog… I see the errors up top will fix soon.

So this adorable little guy appropriately named Zeus is a RESECUE!!!  I mean can you believe that???? Who in their right mind would give up a baby pit like that? Some people… I guess.   No disrespect to any pup I have photographed so far but this might be the cutest pup I have photographed yet.  I got a lot of feedback on these photos… mostly “aww, I want, oh my gosh….” you get the point.  It also has been awhile since I have done a FULL post. I always post a couple on my Facebook page but now I will show more favorites :)

Also during this shoot I wanted to make sure I used all my lenses… to show you can get bokeh (the yummy bluriness) on any and all lenses.  FIRST to prove my point I am going to take you WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY back. Back to my highschool days when it was all about my film, my canon rebel and the darkroom.  This photo of Alizay was taken with my rebel with the kit lens.  Now I don’t have the camera anymore I “traded” it in about 3years ago for $25, lol.  But I clearly remember the lens only stopped down to 5.6 and just look at the bokeh..

This photo was at least taken 9 years ago… She has no white hair on her face yet. =/

Ok let me highlight these first three first.  All taken with different lenses all achieving great bokeh.
First up 70-200mm F/2.8… this lens is GREAT at separating the subject from the background

24mm-70mm f/2.8 … I force myself to use this lens. It usually is collecting dust somewhere. But I am going to start using it now after this shoot.  It got me some great shots!

50mm f/1.2  Always faithful to me.

These next two I love…

Was about to post this as color then I realized it would make a GREAT bw

The Frenchie

I am a ridculously crazyhuge dog lover.  I always think about what would be my next dog… what breed would compliment my feisty Alizita.  If you know me you know I am tiny.  The one time I tried to handle my friend’s chocolate lab I freaked out.  I was left alone for two minutes with him and I found myself squatted down using all my body weight to hold this extremely playful dog back.  There was a kid approaching on a bike.. I was screaming in my head.  Luckily my friend came back and got his dog.  So from that experience I have decided I am not tall enough fit to have a big dog.  Then I started thinking I want to be like her! Like her- to be able to prance around the mall with your dog in your purse, travel with your dog as carry-on… basically to be able to take your dog anywhere and everywhere.  Not only because your baby is pint-size but also cause it’s too darn cute for anyone to tell you “no dogs allowed”.  So that has been my plan. I am going to get one of those tiny dogs and just pray Alizay doesn’t beat her/him up.  But two weeks ago I went to this dog party and I just saw it, The Frenchie.  A french bulldog… the one with the pink ears that just stick up and  I fell in LOVE.   Hopefully the owner didn’t think I was too weird cause I was just in awe staring and following the dog around.  Tarek and I looked at each other and said “That’s the one.”

Don’t forget this Saturday, Strut Your Mutt!

Age…

I know I look young… real young.  People tell me (frequently) that I can pass for 18!  But let me tell you I am over 21.  My mom looks ten years younger than her age and so does my dad.  So add that up and I will  probably look 20 years younger than my age when I am their age ;)
For the most part looking young doesn’t bother me. All it means is that I am going to age gracefully.  But you know sometimes when I get carded to get into a ‘R’ rated movie or when my drink gets swiped off the table by the waitress and she yells “No more alcohol will be served at this because she is not 21!” just cause I sipped some of my boyfriends drink… I get annoyed. Just a tad.  Although we did get a new waiter and free dessert and drinks cause of her yelling at me.

My latest story was when I was traveling to Peru.  I was in the Lima airport at check-in to get to my final destination… This whole conversation is in spanish…
Ticket lady (TL)- “How old are you?”
Me- “2X”  —( haha not showing my age)
TL- “I need your documents showing that you can travel”
Me- “Huh? What papers?” (really confuseeddddddd)
TL- “You need permission to travel”
Me- “WHYYYY?”
TL- “You are under 18. You need permission”
Me- (annoyed) “No I am not… I am 2X!!!”
TL- “Oh I thought you said 16! And you look 16 too!”
Me- “Right”
You know it’s all good. Anyways here is a recent picture of me on  my 7 year Anniversary with Tarek.  I was really happy we got to take my Alizita…

So I am on a mission… mission to blog more! I have a lot to share.  What I really want to share is my recent newborn workshop!!  Hopefully I can share later this week!

baby, bebe.. babiiesss

I love babies!!!! I love their innocence.. I love their chunkiness and their toothless smiles.   So because I enjoy photographing them so much I decided I want to also see them five times within a year… I want to see them at their milestones- newborn, pushing up, sitting, crawling and walking.  When I get repeat baby clients I get super excited to see how the baby has changed and how their personality is developing.  So I making a package that will follow them for one year or however long they take to walk- or short… I started walking when I was nine months!!

Anyways I will post details soon.. but I will leave you with this smiley cutey…

it’s been too long…

So I am alive.. I am just a horrible blogger.   Honestly I am more of Facebook-er (is that a word?) and a Twitter-er (follow me @emilyabril)….  Anyways I went to Arequipa-Peru last month and it was wonderful.  Well anytime I go to Arequipa it’s wonderful.  I was born here in the US but there is  something about  Arequipa and it has stolen a piece— errrr at least half of my heart. This year I did something different. If you know me, you know I am a HUGE animal lover… like TREMENDOUS~!  Well I got in contact this a shelter down there Albergue de los Perros Abandonados- Arequipa and I got to go there 4 times.  I totally wish I coulda gone more but I  got a lil sick so yea.  I have a TON to say about the shelter but I will leave it for another post.  Well a post is not a post without a picture right??? So I will leave you with this shot of a dog I found while walking home in Arequipa.  Honestly I get really hesitant when I approach a random dog because a lot of the dogs down there are there to be “guard dogs” in way.  So when I found “her”- (cause she looks like a girl) I tip-toed towards her making funny noises… and she turned out to be REALLY friendly.  I think she looks like Lady from Lady and the Tramp… so I will call this photo… “Señorita Lady”  Also I have slightly changed my post-processing and I am really digging the results in B&W….
